President
May 2021 to January 2022
Ability Maricopa was the affinity resource group for employees with disabilities and allies within the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). During my time as president, I reformed the group after having been dormant for a few years, organized a panel discussion on working within the district as an employee with a disability, led a re-branding effort culminating in the name Ability Maricopa, advocated for faculty and staff with disabilities within the district, and began the process of organizing the first convocation for graduating students with disabilities within the district.
While I stepped down from my role when I left employment with MCCCD, I set the foundation for a group that went on to thrive until MCCCD disbanded all affinity resource groups in early 2025 due to the Trump administration's attacks on all things diversity, equity, and inclusion within higher education.
Employee Representative
July 2021 to January 2022
As an employee representative within MCCCD's staff representation I represented Rio Salado College employees in both the college and district's shared governance models, advocating for employees within Rio. As a representative, I served on the staff policy committee, responsible for developing employee policies. As part of this work, I co-chaired a group tasked with developing an anti-bullying policy for the district.
